Indonesia Macroeconomic Outlook

Indonesia is the world's fourth most populous nation and a cornerstone of ASEAN growth, powered by a large domestic market, a rising middle class, and abundant natural resources. Its economy is transitioning from raw commodity exports such as nickel ore and palm oil toward value-added processing, with nickel refining for EV batteries anchoring higher-value manufacturing and drawing foreign investment. Growth is supported by strong domestic consumption and an ambitious public infrastructure agenda under the National Strategic Projects initiative, though rising debt, cyclical trade balances, and questions around fiscal discipline temper the outlook.
